The French, Polish, Spanish and Swiss governments have provided documentary evidence to the Pakistan government of alleged corruption by Bhutto and her husband. Bhutto and her husband faced a charge of laundering money through Swiss banks.
A 1998 report indicates that Pakistani investigators have documents that uncover a network of bank accounts, all linked to the family’s lawyer in Switzerland, with Asif Zardari as the principal shareholder.
Documents released by the French authorities indicated that Zadari offered exclusive rights to Dassault, a French aircraft manufacturer, to replace the air force’s fighter jets in exchange for a 5% commission to be paid to a Swiss corporation controlled by Zardari.
A 1998 report indicates that Pakistani investigators have documents that uncover a network of bank accounts, all linked to the family’s lawyer in Switzerland, with Asif Zardari as the principal shareholder.
The article also said a Dubai company received an exclusive license to import gold into Pakistan for which Asif Zardari received payments of more than $10M into his Dubai-based Citibank accounts. The owner of the company denied that he had made payments to Zardari and claims the documents were forged.
The paper also said that Zardari’s parents, who had modest assets at the time of Bhutto’s marriage, now own a 355-acre estate south of London. The estate has been auctioned through a court order.
Bhutto and her husband face wide-ranging allegations of theft concerning hundreds of millions of dollars of “commissions” on government contracts and tenders.
Despite this, a power-sharing deal recently brokered between Bhutto and Musharraf will allow Bhutto access to her Swiss bank accounts containing £740 million ($1.5 Billion).
Another one of her prime assets include her 10 bedroom mock Tudor Surrey mansion.

On 23 July 1998, the Swiss Government handed over documents to the government of Pakistan which relate to corruption allegations against Benazir Bhutto and her husband.The documents included a formal charge of money laundering by Swiss authorities against Zardari.
The Pakistani government had been conducting a wide-ranging inquiry to account for more than $13.7 million frozen by Swiss authorities in 1997 that was allegedly stashed in banks by Bhutto and her husband. The Pakistani government recently filed criminal charges against Bhutto in an effort to track down an estimated $1.5 billion she and her husband are alleged to have received in a variety of criminal enterprises.The documents suggest that the money Zardari is alleged to have laundered was accessible to Benazir Bhutto and had been used to buy a diamond necklace for over $175,000.
On 6 August 2003, Swiss magistrates found Benazir and her husband guilty of money laundering. They were given six-month suspended jail terms, fined $50,000 each and were ordered to pay $11 million to the Pakistani government. The six-year trial alleged that Benazir and Zardari deposited in Swiss accounts $10 million given to them by a Swiss company in exchange for a contract in Pakistan. The couple said they would appeal. The Pakistani investigators say Zardari opened a Citbank account in Geneva in 1995 through which they say he passed some $40 million of the $100 million he received in payoffs from foreign companies doing business in Pakistan.

PPP’s ‘threat’ to Imran
These are my views against Qasim Zia’s use of language against our national hero. Imran Khan without any doubt is a national hero. Not only in sports, but also in social work has he given this nation many things to be proud of. Threatening such a person with such derogatory language shows the true colors of PPP leadership.
PPP calls itself a democratic party, but threatening someone means the PPP is giving the message to the whole nation that its leaders believe in resorting to use of force against political opponents.
Imran Khan was questioning about public money pardoned under NRO. Every Pakistani has the right to question as to why the money in question was pardoned without a trial. Qasim Zia had no right to threaten anyone for asking a legitimate question.
The way PPP co-chairperson withdrew from written agreements was astonishing. Another very serious question that now arises is the credibility of Asif Zardari who also has to take an oath in case he is elected as President of Pakistan. How can the Pakistani nation trust that he won’t go against his oath, when he cannot keep his words and he can simply retract by saying that agreements are not Quran or Hadiths.

Zardari gave over 200 medical reports to avoid cases

ISLAMABAD: Asif Ali Zardari had presented more than 200 medical certificates in different courts, both in Pakistan and outside, to delay the proceedings in corruption cases filed against him. Disclosing this, sources said, the much-discussed medical reports about his mental disorders were also challenged by the Government of Pakistan as fake.
Sources in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) told this correspondent that the Bureau in early 2007 wrote to the London High Court and questioned the authenticity of the medical report that recently made headlines in the national and international media.
“We wrote to the London High Court that the Government of Pakistan believes that the psychiatrist’s report was a case of perjury and meant to delay the proceedings of the corruption case,” a source said, adding that the London High Court was requested to constitute an independent medical board to ascertain if the accused is really suffering from psychological disorders.
When the London High Court approved the request of the Government of Pakistan it recommended the case to the Head of Psychiatry Department, Harvard University; Head of Psychiatry Department, Columbia University; or Head of Psychiatry Department, New York State University.
Following Pakistan’s request, the London High Court approved the first option of the Harvard University’s Psychiatry Department. However, before the matter could proceed further, the Lahore-based NAB’s special cell, probing corruption cases against Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari, was closed following an understanding that was reached between the ousted dictator and the slain chairperson of the Pakistan People’s Party.
The PPP sources, when approached, said that Asif Ali Zardari was kept in jail in the worst conditions for 11 years. They said if anybody faced such conditions for only one month, it was bound to have an impact on his health. They said the harsh conditions may have adversely affected the health of Zardari, but he had fully recovered afterwards.
The PPP is of the view that both Asif Ali Zardari and Benazir Bhutto were the target of political victimisation and that fake corruption cases were framed against them. The PPP including its co-chairperson has also been insisting that despite their trial for more than ten years none of the corruption cases was proved against them. Asif Ali Zardari laments that he had to remain in jail for 11 years for what he claims were crimes he never committed.
The NAB sources, however, have a different story to tell about these corruption cases. The prosecution of the corruption cases against the two, they said, initially faced legal hitches because of the fact that Benazir Bhutto was in exile while Zardari was in Pakistan.
In most of these corruption cases, the two were co-accused so the presence of the two in the court was required for trial. The NAB later separated their cases in the accountability courts.

Musharraf’s cousin received millions in UK, NA told

ISLAMABAD: The government confirmed in the National Assembly on Thursday that Professor Haroon Ahmed, a first cousin of General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, was paid a sum of 88,579 British Pounds (Rs 12.4 million) after he was appointed adviser to the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) led by Dr Attaur Rehman.
Even after the departure of Musharraf from the political scene, his cousin, Professor Haroon, continues to get 4,000 GBP per month from the Government of Pakistan while sitting at home in Cambridge, UK, in the name of his role as an adviser to Dr Attaur Rehman, who is still working as the chairman of the HEC.
During the question-hour, the federal minister for education gave the written details of payments from Pakistani taxpayersí money to the cousin of Musharraf who lives in Cambridge and is regularly receiving 4,000 GBP per month from the HEC.
MNA Khalida Mansoor had asked the government to confirm whether Prof Haroon Ahmed was appointed as an adviser in the HEC in 2006 and if so, what was his salary package and the responsibilities assigned to him. The questioner had also sought the name of the university where Prof Haroon had been posted along with the amount paid to him so far.
A couple of months back, The News had revealed how the cousin of Musharraf was appointed on verbal orders of the president during a high level meeting on the HEC. Former prime minister Shaukat Aziz was also present in the meeting, which took the decision to appoint Prof Haroon.
Quite recently, the office of Auditor General of Pakistan, during the course of audit of accounts of the HEC, had found many irregularities in the appointment of Prof Haroon and had raised serious objections, which were made part of the audit report to be sent to the Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly.
After the publication of the story in The News, the HEC had sent a lengthy explanation to justify Haroonís appointment. But, in a smart move, the HEC had not given the exact amount paid to him in a bid to keep the issue buried. But an MNA has got the facts out.
The education minister told the NA: “Prof Haroon was appointed as adviser to the Higher Education Commission with effect from October 1, 2006. The total monthly salary admission to him all inclusive is 4,000 GBP while working in the Cambridge University. He gets 2,400 GBP for working in Pakistan. As an adviser to the HEC, he has been assigned the responsibility to facilitate and coordinate the setting up of the universities of engineering and science and technology of Pakistan in collaboration with technologically advance countries.” The minister also defended his appointment, which otherwise was objected to by the auditor general of Pakistan on several grounds.

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan—The way the sanctity of the secret ballot for the Presidential Election was violated by the honorable members of the NWFP Provincial Assembly was, to say the least, a conduct highly unbecoming the ones calling themselves the legislators.
What was still more intriguing was that some of the honorable members of great political standing and known to be the stalwarts of high principles and the followers of Bacha Khan the great not only behaved so spitefully peevishly, throwing all caution and morals to the winds but also disgraced the political ethics and morality by such an open and blatant display of showing the ‘crosses’ marked by them on their ballot papers to the supervising PPP Ministers seated strategically at oblique wings at close quarters to the Booth No.1.
Why a certification was needed and for what consideration from such trusted ‘monitoring agents’?
The pathetic body language with the shame writ large over their faces and the general unsteady carriage of the honorable MPAs displayed their extremely agonizing helplessness, evoking great compassion for the poor souls from the TV viewers.
One was really amazed and astounded to witness such an unbelievable spectacle and earnestly wanted to know the compulsion(s) forcing the honorable members for behaving in such an undignified manner of denuding themselves of all self respect.
One hopes the ‘rewards’ were really worth selling their conscience so openly and that too on one of the most august floors that this nation can boast of.
Some honorable members on some sacred floor of some august house for strengthening some institutions for some democracy in Pakistan!

This is very amazing that we all know this and still elect, praise and worship this family. There is god out there and one day we all will have to explain our sins, I wonder what is Asif Ali Zardari’s plan is to avoid the hearing in front of god. I guarantee Asif that god will not be accepting any medical certificate and also remember all the doctors on your payroll will have their own problems on that day. Asif; God have given you an opportunity to prove your self an honest. You are leading 90%+ uneducated, just remember if we had 20%+ educated people, you would be among the plowing. God give you guidance.

If i would be given an opportunity to say something at zardari, i would say that he is not humanbeing, even he is vorce than a pig. Because being animal, pig does not harm any one, but zardari is sucking the blood of poor Pakistani people with his bloody teeths. Asif Ali Zardari
Early life and family
Asif is the son of a Pakistani Politician, Hakim Ali Zardari. Asif did most of his schooling from Saint Patrick’s High School, Karachi, also President Pervez Musharf’s alma mater. He is a Petarian as well. The young Zardari’s main claim to fame was that he had a private disco at home.This led to development of his reputation as a ”playboy”.
Member of National Assembly
Asif served as a member of the National Assembly, and as Environment Minister during the second term of his wife’s premiership. His last position in the government of Pakistan was as a senator until 1999, when the senate and assemblies were dissolved by Gen. Pervez Musharraf, who took over the reins of the government in a coup against the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Corruption charges and trial
He has been given the nickname “Mr. Ten Percent” by the media and other Pakistani figures because of the alleged 10% extortion he forced on people during the PPP governments.
In 1990, Zardari was arrested on charges of blackmail, based on allegations that he attached a bomb to a Pakistani businessman, Murtaza Bukhari, and forced him to withdraw money from his bank account. However, the charges were dropped when he was released from prison in 1993 when his wife’s Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) took power and forced the charges out.
Zardari was made the Environment Minister during Bhutto’s tenure.
As Minister, he was accused of taking unaccounted millions of Rupees from local Pakistani banks for forestation of Pakistan.
During that period he claimed in a televised news conference that every school in Pakistan has an Environment & Forestry department which motivates every student to plant one tree.
Asif Ali Zardari also maintained a polo ground in Islamabad.
He was kept in custody from 1997 to 2004 on charges ranging from corruption to murder. He was granted bail and released in November 2004 when a judge said the cases were all false, although allegations of pressure on the judge have also been made. However, he was re-arrested on 21 December 2004 after his failure to attend a hearing in a murder trial in Karachi.
Soon after the conviction, audiotapes of conversations between the judge and some top aides of then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif were discovered that showed that the judge had been under pressure to convict.

In August 2004, Zardari finally admitted owning a £4.35m estate in Surrey, England (including a 20-room mansion and two farms on 365 acres, or 1.5 km², of land), which the Pakistani authorities allege was bought with the proceeds of corruption. He and his family had long denied ownership of such property in the United Kingdom. Legal proceedings brought by the Government of Pakistan against Zardari to recover the sale proceeds of the property are continuing before the High Court of Justice of England and Wales. In October 2006, the court dismissed Zardari’s application to halt the proceedings on the basis that it did not have jurisdiction to hear the case. As of late 2007, Zardari is seeking permission to appeal that decision.
Zardari has spent a total of 11 years in prison. He says that the charges are politically motivated. Throughout this time, Zardari’s lawyer has been Farooq H. Naek who has played a major role in his release.
A Swiss investigating magistrate has amassed enough evidence, including the purchase of a diamond necklace, to indict Pakistan’s former Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto and husband on money-laundering charges tied to contracts with two Geneva-based companies. The magistrate, Daniel Devaud, decided not to bring the charges against Ms. Bhutto in Switzerland, but rather to ask Pakistani authorities to indict her. The Geneva magistrate has been conducting a wide-ranging inquiry seeking to account for more than $13.7 million frozen by Swiss authorities in 2006.
The money was allegedly stashed in Swiss banks. The public proceedings were required to be dropped against Bhutto due to her death; however, the proceedings are still continuing against Zardari as of late December 2007.
Co-chairman of the PPP
Benazir Bhutto was assassinated on 27 December 2007. On 30 December 2007, Asif Ali Zardari occupied the co-chairmanship the PPP.
After being elected co-chairperson of the PPP, he campaigned in various parts of Pakistan ahead of the February 2008 election. This included campaigning alongside Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League (N).

On 5th March 2008 Mr Zardairi was
cleared of 5 corruption charges, including corruption and illegal use of property under NRO.
Mr Zardari is preparing to be able to be leader his newly elected PPP-PML-N government. He had another trial on the remaining charges on 12 April 2008, when he was cleared under NRO. On 19 April 2008 Zaradari announced in a press conference in London that he and his sister would participate in the by-elections taking place on 3rd June and that, if necessary, he would contest to become the country’s next Prime Minister, even though his party voted by a 2/3 majority to announce that Yousaf Raza Gillani would be the PM for a five year term.

It has been widely believed that 3 A’s are running Pakistan – Allah, Army & America, but now another A has been included & i.e. Asif. So now there are 4 A’s. People of Pakistan can only pray to first A – to Allah only. On the other hand, our leaders are praying and kowtowing in front of america – as our PM is on his way to W.D.C., while his cabinet and other members are begging to the last A – Asif – for getting more and more personal benefits by getting more honourary ministries and parliamentary secreatryships.

Asif Ali Zardari
Early life and family
Asif is the son of a Pakistani Politician, Hakim Ali Zardari. Asif did most of his schooling from Saint Patrick’s High School, Karachi, also President Pervez Musharf’s alma mater. Member of National Assembly
Asif served as a member of the National Assembly, and as Environment Minister during the second term of his wife’s premiership. His last position in the government of Pakistan was as a senator until 1999, when the senate and assemblies were dissolved by Gen. Pervez Musharraf, who took over the reins of the government in a coup against the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Corruption charges and trial
He has been given the nickname “Mr. Ten Percent” by the media and other Pakistani figures because of the alleged 10% extortion he forced on people during the PPP governments.
In 1990, Zardari was arrested on charges of blackmail, based on allegations that he attached a bomb to a Pakistani businessman, Murtaza Bukhari, and forced him to withdraw money from his bank account. However, the charges were dropped when he was released from prison in 1993 when his wife’s Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) took power and forced the charges out.
Zardari was made the Environment Minister during Bhutto’s tenure.
As Minister, he was accused of taking unaccounted millions of Rupees from local Pakistani banks for forestation of Pakistan.
During that period he claimed in a televised news conference that every school in Pakistan has an Environment & Forestry department which motivates every student to plant one tree.
Asif Ali Zardari also maintained a polo ground in Islamabad.
He was kept in custody from 1997 to 2004 on charges ranging from corruption to murder. He was granted bail and released in November 2004 when a judge said the cases were all false, although allegations of pressure on the judge have also been made. However, he was re-arrested on 21 December 2004 after his failure to attend a hearing in a murder trial in Karachi.
Soon after the conviction, audiotapes of conversations between the judge and some top aides of then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif were discovered that showed that the judge had been under pressure to convict.
Zardari is currently living at Zardari House in Pakistani capital of Isalamabad and also has house in dubai. He is suffering from diabetes, a spinal ailment, and heart trouble.

Ur post regarding the biodata of Asif Zardari is sadly hotch-potch. Mr. zardari is presently leading a party which people of Pakistan have voted for the government. Is it also his fault? u shd hv proved your statement with the reference, which would have made a point. instead your post seem 2 b a hotch-potch of allegations which circulate. though I am not a fan of Mr. Zardari, yet if someone is levelling allegations against someone, then he has to prove his point with proper proofs. anyways you are not guilty untill proven.

I have been in receipt of this extensive list of Asif Zardari’s Local and International holdings sent to me via a number of sources, in all honesty I have no way of precisely confirming the authenticity of this list but place it on this blog in an attempt to figure out what true what is simply hype. There is little doubt in my mind that this list may be quite close to being authentic considering the massive corruption that has plagued Pakistan in his previous two tenures in power, little to know that the Metamorphosis of 2008Zardari further up into Pakistans Rich List of 2008 where he was previously ranked at #2. which changed the way he appeared orchestrated after the assassination of his wife on 27th December 2007. It has been widely believed that 3 A’s are running Pakistan – Allah, Army & America, but now another A has been included & i.e. Asif. So now there are 4 A’s. People of Pakistan can only pray to first A – to Allah only. On the other hand, our leaders are praying and kowtowing in front of america – as our PM is on his way to W.D.C., while his cabinet and other members are begging to the last A – Asif – for getting more and more personal benefits by getting more honourary ministries and parliamentary secreatryships.
