Pakistan presidential candidate Asif Ali Zardari ’suffering from severe mental problems’
Asif Ali Zardari, the widower of former Pakistan prime minister Benazir Bhutto and himself a leading contender for the country’s presidency, was suffering from severe mental illness as recently as last year, it has been reported.
Mr Zardari, co-chair of the Pakistan People’s Party, was diagnosed with a range of psychiatric illnesses, including dementia, major depressive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.
The illnesses were said to be linked to the fact that he has spent 11 of the past 20 years in Pakistani prisons fighting charges of corruption. He claims to have been tortured during his incarceration.
In March 2007 New York psychiatrist Philip Saltiel found that Mr Zardari’s time in detention left him with severe “emotional instability”, memory loss and concentration problems, according to court documents seen by the Financial Times.
“I do not see any improvement in these issues for at least a year,” he wrote.
Stephen Reich, a psychiatrist from New York State, said Mr Zardari was unable to recall the birthdays of his wife and children and had thought about suicide.
Mr Zardari used the medical reports to successfully fight a now defunct English High Court case in which the Pakistan government sought to sue him over alleged corruption. The case was dropped in March.
Mr Zardari was not available to comment on the documents, but Wajid Shamsul Hasan, the Pakistan high commissioner to London said he was now fit and well.
Mr Zardari is his party’s candidate to succeed Pervez Musharraf as president of the nuclear-armed country.
However, his coalition government with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, fell apart yesterday after Mr Sharif withdrew his party, the The Pakistan Muslim League-N.

What Zardari does today tomorrow his son will pay for it so Pakistan should worry less but many believe Zardari does not care about anyone even his son, I hope this is not the case.

No one I have come across who is saying anything good about Asif Ali Zardari. I live in NY and people are only worried about him being head of Pakistan. I am not here to hate anyone but tell you the truth.

Saleem javed- I dont agree with you because President is working for Pakistan and saving his Country as he is before getting this Govt. 27 Dec 2007-29 Dec 2007, Pakistan was suffering in a war which should never be end untill Mr.Zardari says the Slogan Pakistan Khappay.. We dont imagine that what crisis should be created if this slogan was not said by him, we will suffer an internal war b/w Punjab and Sindh, as Mohtarma was killed in Rawalpindi.. She had attended many Program and Election campaigns in Sindh but nothing happened there, they were very peacefully done. But y In Punjab she was killed? People were blaming Mr.Nawaz and they said that we need Sindh SINDH KHAPAY.. but it was Mr.Zardari who saved Pakistan at that time untill now he is still saving Pakistan from the war against terrorism/Fighting against Talibanization..
But, I am very sorry to say some people had started their work for criticizing a teen ager guy just because they know that he has gutts to move Pakistan towards a Perfect Nation.. They know that Bilawal is the future of Pakistan and thats why they are criticizing him and making fake propaganda against him.. Their vision is clearly shown that Show Bilawal’s Character as a bad guy, selfish and corrupt person and they think by this we can take him far away from Politics..
Bilawal said that i am not interested in Politics, But it was PPP and its members who convence Bilawal to do so, because her Mother Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto wanted him to be a Politician like Martyred ZAB.. If u want to listen the speech of Bilawal in which it clearly shown that Bhutto is back in the Presence of Bilawal.. Watch it:

If you had cleared your concept then it gud otherwise God help you with your mentality..
i wanna say a quote here ” Musbit soch Musbit Kirdar ka saboot deti hy” so try to get the meaning of this quote.. It will help u alot..!
Pakistan Zindabad.. Pakistan Payendabad..!
Best Regards..

“many believe Zardari does not care about anyone even his son.” shame on the people who said things like that, we should be proud both of them as they both sacrificed their personal lives for the sake of people of pakistan.
Today when they are serving the Pakistan people’s party as being their chairman & co-chairman, A largest political party of pakistan than again anti-democratic people get started to make propaganda’s…such is this, Its true that they could not spend time with each other as much as they deserve but its never mean that they have no more love for each other…& i do agree with farhad as Pakistan was burning after the Shahdutt of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto but it was slogan who saved the nation shouted by Mr. Asif Ali Zardari as well as Bilawal may be not intrested intrested to the politics, but its never mean that he can not join the politics, he may be convenced to do so from party members but he is an elected chairman with the majority of CEC members of the party.
very tru farhad, by the garce of ALLAH TALA our great Leader Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Shaheed returns back in to the presence of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari & absoultly by the grace of ALLAH TALA he is very talaented, very confident & has gutts to move Pakistan towards a Perfect Nation…
i wish under the leadership of PPP Co-Chairman & The President of Pakistan Mr.Asif Ali Zardrai & PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the nation will be able to achive something great…as PPP always served the nation best.
